Founded in 2006, TS Strategic Consulting, LLC is owned and operated by Tia Goss Sawhney as the corporate vehicle for Tia’s consulting work.

Tia is an actuary, qualified to provide actuarial opinions in the area of health insurance. Her professional interests are in developing innovative strategies at the intersection of insurance, healthcare, and risk assessment. Tia is currently a doctoral student at the University of Illinois (at Chicago) School of Public Health. Most recently Tia was the Chief Strategy Officer of Precedent, a start-up individual health insurance company, whose innovative product design was written up in the Wall Street Journal, Managed Health Care Executive, and numerous other health care publications.

Tia is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She has a masters degree in Government Administration from the Fels Center of Government of the University of Pennsylvania and an bachelors degree in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Early in her education Tia completed extensive course work in biology and other natural sciences which provided the initial knowledge base for her work in healthcare and her reading of medical literature.

In addition to her recent role as Chief Strategy Officer of Precedent, Tia has been a healthcare management consultant with Milliman, the world’s largest and most respected actuarial consulting firm, and a director with Health Care Services Corporation (aka Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and other states).

Tia has published thought provoking, strategic articles in several trade publications, including Contingencies (the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries), Health Insurance Underwriter, and Health Management Technology. Tia has additional articles currently under review.

Beyond her professional work, Tia is a world traveler, a prolific reader, and a politically active US and world citizen. She serves on the board of Jyoti Children's Development Foundation an Illinois-based non-profit organization which funds and manages a Jyoti School for deaf children in India. She is the mother of two amazing children.
